irl protesting recommendations

not an exhaustive list, research elsewhere

  • do not take photos or videos
  • use safe messaging apps for protest-related info, such as Signal or Matrix, but DO NOT BRING YOUR PHONE TO PROTESTS
  • bring emergency contact info, easy transported snacks, water bottles (and gatorade if it's very hot) in a squirt-top for drinking and washing eyes/wounds, first-aid kits, sunscreen, any meds you might need, money
  • wear non-descript + plain clothing + masks + thick gloves (for handling tear bas canisters). cover identifying marks (tattoos, colored hair, piercings, nails, etc)
  • don't wear anything that can be easily grabbed: jewelry, loose hair/ponytails, etc
  • go in a group

  • don't snitch: if you see something illegal, no you didn't
  • don't call the cops
